First blended in 1998, Mundo Unido, which translates to “World United” in the Spanish language was our very first fair trade, dark roast coffee. A three-bean blend of Sumatran, Peruvian and Nicaraguan coffees, Mundo Unido has a bittersweet dark chocolate flavour that is complemented by smoky, earth notes. With a thick body and nice long finish Mundo Unido is one of our most popular Classic Blends.
The Mundo Unido blend is named to highlight the positive impact the fair trade movement has had on workers from around the world. We have seen first hand the direct benefits coffee farmers receive because of the fair trade movement – their gratitude is immeasurable.
The name Mundo Unido also symbolizes our commitment to minimize Salt Spring Coffee’s environmental impact where possible – we have just one earth, after all.
